How dates get onto a page
Dates come from official records. Break pages appear when local guidance is available.
A date is published only after we have read a government notice. The page keeps that notice’s link and the day we read it. Open calendars are only a cross-check.
Official holiday records are grouped into breaks. A break page is published when local guidance is available in that language. The annual list and calendar include breaks without a guidance page.
If a government notice changes a real date, the page shows the new checked date. There is no correction form in this version yet.
English and Chinese pages are written for their own readers. The name on the page is Shi-Chih Chen.
The globe can switch between dots and satellite. Satellite imagery is from NASA Visible Earth and is in the public domain.
The marks for who is off today on the globe come from the open-source calendar python-holidays (MIT), with official imported data for Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore where available. Other dates have not been checked one by one against each government’s notice.
