Lunar New Year holiday

Lunar New Year is a major family holiday in Taiwan, often marked by reunion meals, visits to relatives and travel home. The break includes the 4 February pre-eve, 5 February eve, festival days on 6–8 February and substitute holidays on 9–10 February.

• Prepare for pre-holiday errands: Gift shopping, family meals and hair appointments often move earlier than the public holiday itself.
• Expect uneven opening patterns: Some independent businesses close for family gatherings, while others remain open for local or visitor demand.
• Plan for outbound and return journeys: Shops near transport hubs may see different purchase patterns at the beginning and end of the break.
• Visitor enquiries: Share your hours; suggest checking transport and attraction notices directly.
• Check employment guidance: For private-sector days off, substitute holidays, staffing and pay arrangements, follow announcements from the Ministry of Labor.

• 30 days before: Set daily hours for the eve, festival days and substitute holidays; brief staff and review advance food or gift orders.
• 14 days before: Set each date’s special hours in Google Business Profile, including closed days. Publish a Post on the same day with the complete opening schedule.
• 7 days before: Repeat the day-by-day notice, check restaurant bookings, and confirm salon or clinic appointment slots.
• On the holiday or final day: Verify that the posted hours still match actual operations. Check that the special hours will expire after their assigned dates rather than overwrite regular hours.
