Peace Memorial Day holiday

Peace Memorial Day commemorates the February 28 Incident and is observed through remembrance and historical education. In 2027, the break extends across the weekend and Monday substitute holiday.

• Monday is not a routine weekday: Commuter and office-lunch demand may differ from a normal Monday.
• Be mindful around commemorations: Businesses near memorial sites should check local access notices and keep communication respectful.
• Plan modestly for short trips: Visitor-facing businesses can use confirmed bookings rather than assuming a uniform surge.
• Visitor enquiries: Share your hours; suggest checking transport and attraction notices directly.
• Check employment guidance: For private-sector days off, substitute holidays, staffing and pay arrangements, follow announcements from the Ministry of Labor.

• 30 days before: Decide whether Monday will be an operating day and arrange staffing across all three dates.
• 14 days before: Set each date’s special hours in Google Business Profile, including closed days. Publish a Post on the same day with the complete opening schedule.
• 7 days before: Remind customers about Monday hours and confirm any appointments moved because of the long weekend.
• On the holiday or final day: Verify that the posted hours still match actual operations. Check that the special hours will expire after their assigned dates rather than overwrite regular hours.
